Privacy Policy

Effective Date: September 2026 Covers extension v1.0 and this website

Data Integrity

We never store your GA4 credentials or data on our servers.

Your Privacy

In the extension, nothing leaves your browser. There is no server of ours to send it to.

You choose

The extension collects no personal data. Website analytics runs only if you accept it.

1. Overview

GA4 Simple View is a Chrome extension that provides a simplified dashboard for your Google Analytics 4 data. Your privacy is important to us. Sections 2–8 cover the extension; section 9 covers the analytics cookies on this website.

2. Data We Access

GA4 Simple View accesses the following data through Google's official APIs using your Google account authentication:

  • Google Analytics 4 Data API — Your website analytics data (users, sessions, pageviews, traffic sources, etc.)
  • Google Analytics Admin API — Property names and data stream configurations
  • Google Search Console API — Search queries, clicks, impressions, and rankings (optional)

3. How We Use Your Data

CRITICAL DISCLOSURE: We do not store your data.

  • All data is fetched directly from Google's APIs to your browser
  • Data is displayed only within the extension popup/dashboard
  • Cached data is stored locally in your browser (chrome.storage.local) for performance
  • We do not collect, store, transmit, or share your analytics data
  • We do not have any servers that receive your data
  • No data leaves your browser

4. Authentication

  • We use Chrome's built-in chrome.identity API for Google OAuth2 authentication
  • Your Google access token is managed by Chrome and never exposed to third parties
  • You can revoke access at any time through Settings → Disconnect, or via your Google Account permissions

5. Data Storage & Security

  • Settings and preferences are stored locally in chrome.storage.local
  • Cached API responses are stored locally with automatic expiration (1–24 hours)
  • No data is stored on external servers
  • You can clear all cached data from Settings → Clear Data Cache
  • We use the official Google OAuth 2.0 flow — we never handle your Google password

6. Permissions Explained

Permission Why
identitySign in with your Google account to access GA4 data
storageSave settings and cache data locally
alarmsBackground refresh, traffic anomaly checks, weekly digest scheduling
notificationsTraffic anomaly alerts and weekly digest notifications

7. Your Rights

Depending on your location (such as the EU under GDPR or California under CCPA), you have specific rights regarding your personal information:

1 Right to Access
Since data is local, you can view it anytime in your browser dev tools.
2 Right to Erasure
Simply uninstall the extension or clear browser cache to delete all local data.

8. Third-Party Services

  • Google APIs — Used to fetch your analytics data (subject to Google's Privacy Policy)
  • Google Fonts — Used for typography
  • The extension uses no other third-party services. The website's analytics is described in section 9.

9. This Website (ga4simpleview.com)

This section is about the website only. The extension never sets or reads these cookies, and your GA4 data never reaches the website.

  • You choose first. On your first visit a banner asks whether we may use analytics cookies, and none are set until you accept. Change your choice at any time from Cookie settings in the footer; rejecting deletes the analytics cookies already set.
  • Google Analytics 4, loaded by Google Tag Manager. With your consent it records the pages you view, how you arrived (referrer and campaign tags), and the device, browser and approximate location Google derives from the request. We use it to learn which pages are useful. There is no advertising or remarketing, and the advertising consent signals always stay denied.
  • If you reject or ignore the banner. Tag Manager still loads, and Google Analytics may send cookieless pings — no cookies and no identifier, only the page, a timestamp, browser details and your consent state. Google uses them for aggregate modelling. This is Google's Consent Mode.
  • Retention. Google Analytics event data is kept for 14 months, then deleted automatically.

Google processes this data as described in How Google uses information from sites that use its services. You can also block these cookies in your browser settings.

10. Children's Privacy

This extension is not intended for use by children under 13.

11. Google API Services User Data Policy

GA4 Simple View's use and transfer of information received from Google APIs adheres to the Google API Services User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements.
